what is "forever"?
in Minecraft, a "forever world" is a world created with the assumption that the world will never be "reset" or started again from scratch. the idea is that people limit themselves to a single world and focus their energy onto the builds or expression in that world.i have decided to take that idea and spin it into a way of expressing my affection towards people in my life. to do this, i'll be building things that either represent what they have done for me or who they are, or I'll build something relating to them or something they've told me, in some way or another.
my rules
to keep this world true to what i want it to be (and also to keep it enjoyable for myself), i've set up some guidelines to abide by:- no AI at all. that includes for coming up with build ideas or the website's design, anything. art cannot be an expression of the human mind if it's... not.
- all builds must be original. that means no taking builds from online and copying them. i am still allowed to find inspiration, but i shouldn't copy anything block-for-block
- builds must be done in survival. there's something poetic about laboring away to accomplish something, makes it more rewarding
- the world must run on a server, so backups can be reliably made and others can explore/visit
- keepinventory is on. i don't like losing things and it can very quickly kill my motivation
check out the world
the minecraft server for the world is publicly accessible at forever.fridge.dev, on Java Edition 1.12.2.anyone can join, but everyone will be put into spectator mode automatically as i'd like this to be a solo project. some special visitors may be put into survival if i want to show them around.
